Traveling Tips For You And Your Family

Traveling Tips For You And Your Family

BAY CITY, Mich.- Spring has sprung and the summer vacation months are approaching quickly—we have come up with a couple of suggestions for your travel plans that may make things operate a little more smoothly! Here are just some Traveling Tips For You And Your Family so you can spend your vacation enjoying yourself instead of pulling your hair out.

1. If you plan to travel by airline, you should make sure that you are checking the most recent TSA Safety Regulations, as they are always changing. The security checkpoint is one of the last places that you want to be stuck repacking your child's bag because of an mistake.

2. Make sure to bring along a mini-medicine kit in case someone gets sick; you can pack motion-sickness medication, any other over-the-counter solution that your family may need, tissues, band-aids, gum, etc.

3. Make sure you are prepared to entertain each other! There are lots of small electronic games these days that won't take up space in your carry on or in the car. Or, you could always download a new app on your iPhone or iPad that allows for multiple people to participate. You can surprise one of your children or your spouse with a book or an eCoupon for a digital rental on your computer or tablet too.

4. Spice things up and bring along a snack you have never tried before and spring it on your family—you never know what you may have been missing out on and it might be a nice surprise!

2014 Chevy Camaro Z/28 Details

2014 Chevy Camaro Z/28 Details
BAY CITY, Mich.- Originally introduced in 1967, Chevrolet shocked the automotive industry at the 2013 New York International Auto Show by introducing the 2014 Chevy Camaro Z/28, a surprise we didn't see coming! The most iconic Camaro in history has officially returned!

The first Camaro Z/28 was built with a smaller and lighter 302-cubic-inch V8 engine, quick-ratio steering, and a heavy duty suspension to compete in the Sports Car Club of America's Trans-Am 2 class. The road-racing 1967 Camaro Z/28 was not available with an automative transmission or air conditioning either.

Drastically updated from the original model, the newest Z/28 has become the most track-capable offering in Camaro's history! 2014 Chevy Camaro Z/28 Details include the 2014 Camaro's updated exterior design along with a full aerodynamics package that creates downforce at speed. Solely focused on track capability, increased grip, increased stopping power, and reduced curb weight allowed the 2014 Camaro Z/28 to perform 3 seconds faster that the Camaro ZL1 in initial testing. In fact, the Z/28 is a whopping 300 pounds lighter than the ZL1! The heart of the 2014 Camaro Z/28 is the lighter, naturally aspirated 7.0L LS7. Staying true to its roots, the Z/28 is offered only with a manual transmission and comes with air conditioning, but only as an option.
“As the ultimate track-capable Camaro, this car restores the mission of the original Z/28, and serves as a testament to the expertise of Chevrolet as the best-selling brand of performance cars. The build sheet is the wish list of any racer: lightweight, high-revving, dry-sump LS7 engine; carbon-ceramic brakes; integrated coolers for track use; true aerodynamic downforce, and a significant reduction in curb weight. This car could only come from Chevrolet, and could only be called the Z/28.”
-Mark Reuss, President, GM North America.
2014 Chevy Camaro Z/28 Details
After setting out to make the fastest road-racing Camaro possible, Chevrolet proves successful with the completely track focused, but still street legal, 2014 Camaro Z/28! If you can't wait to put the pedal to the metal in a brand new Camaro, you won't have to wait long, as they are expected to hit dealership showrooms in late 2013! Kelsey's Law Protects Teen Drivers

Kelsey's Law Protects Teen Drivers
BAY CITY, Mich.- Later this week we will hopefully see less teen drivers talking on their cell phones while driving as the result of a new law that will take effect on Thursday. The new law, Kelsey's Law, aims to protect teen drivers by allowing police to ticket Michigan's Level 1* and 2* drivers a $100 civil infraction fine for talking on their cell phone while driving. While Kelsey's Law allows police to cite new drivers solely for talking on their phone, it is most likely that citations will happen in conjunction with other violations.

However, there are exceptions to the new ban. Kelsey's Law does not apply to hands-free telephone services like Chevy MyLink. In addition, exceptions will be made for new drivers reporting traffic accidents, medical emergencies, road hazards, or criminal activity.

Kelsey's Law Protects Teen DriversKelsey's Law was created in honor of Kelsey Raffaele, from Sault Ste. Marie, who died in a cell phone related, distracted driving accident in 2010 at just 17 years old. And while you may be questioning how effectively Kelsey's Law will Protect Teen Drivers, police officials show proof with past driver-safety laws. For example, the seat-belt requirement and texting ban have resulted in more drivers wearing their seat-belts and less drivers texting while driving. Overall, the new ban will compliment current efforts to educate young drivers about the dangers of distracted driving and will enforce the message that distracted driving can have fatal consequences.

Help us keep our young drivers safe out on the road by demonstrating and educating them about safe driving practices. To take a look at some vehicles equipped with the hands-free Chevy MyLink, like the 2013 Chevy Traverse or 2013 Chevy Cruze, stop by your Mid-Michigan Chevy Dealer. 2014 Chevy Impala Review

2014 Chevy Impala Review

BAY CITY, Mich.- As the newest Chevy Impala hits the market, it is the automaker's goal to break the vehicle's rental car stereotype. This 2014 Chevy Impala Review reveals that the 10th generation Impala does just that. With its eye-catching exterior styling, modern underpinnings, and updated furnishings, the Chevrolet Impala is making a comeback, all while staying true to Chevy's traditional value equation.

In the fight for a part of the half-million-cars-per-year large car segment, the 2014 Impala offers three trim levels, wheel sizes, and engines, as well as additional options to compete against both domestic and imported rivals. With prices starting just below $30,000 and ranging to over $40,000, Chevy has provided effective fixes for previous flaws without becoming too expensive.

2014 Chevy Impala Review
Notably, the over 20 year old W-platform has been replaced by the long version of the Opel-designed Global Epsilon chassis along with obvious major changes to the exterior styling. Specific interior changes have been made as well including a net gain of 5.7 inches in combined front and rear leg space over the 2013 Impala. More leg room also reveals that the next-gen Impala is designed more towards adult trips rather than to accomodate children. So while there are no climate or entertainment controls in the rear, the backrests fold in 40/60 sections and the trunk offers 18.8 cubic feet of truck space for home projects or road trips. One drive in the new 2014 Chevrolet Impala will have you noticing the changes to the previous ride, handling, roominess, and comfort issues.

While Chevrolet has installed MyLink technology in other models already, the second generation MyLink system is the first to be installed in the 2014 Chevy Impala. The optional 8-inch touch screen offers Bluetooth technology, natural voice recognition, and static movie play capability. Input gestures include the option to swipe, flick, click, or drag, in addition to dashboard and steering wheels knobs and buttons for entertainment and climate controls. Stay on track with high resolution 3D navigation mapping and keep your belongings safe with the 2014 Chevy Impala's special PIN-activated secret storage bin behind the touch screen.

2014 Chevrolet Impala Review
Performance-wise, the optional 3.6-liter aluminum V6 engine produces 305 horsepower while maintaining 29 mpg in highway driving. More impressive fuel economy will be achieved with the two four-cylinder engines that look to push efficiency to over 30 mpg--a 2.4-liter with eAssist mild hybridization and a 196 horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder. Not to mention, with the acoustic laminated glass, triple door seals, and cavity baffles, this just might be the quietest Chevy ever. And as always, this Chevrolet will keep you safe with unmatched safety gear like four-direction alerts, adaptive cruise control, automatic collision-avoiding brakes, lane departure warning, and back up camera. Plus, 10 airbags come standard in the cabin to keep you safe in the event of an accident.

If you're overwhelmed with all of the updates detailed in the 2014 Chevrolet Impala Review, let us help you understand all of the useful new features on the 2014 Impala. The Car Buying Process - Information Gathering

The Car Buying Process - Information Gathering
BAY CITY, Mich.- When you have determined that it may be time to replace your current vehicle or your household has the need to add a vehicle, the Information Gathering portion of The Car Buying Process begins. Tt is important to do your research and there is a wealth of information online regarding vehicle specifications, what the vehicle is capable of doing, colors, etc. However, there is much more to the Information Gathering Process than you may think.

You will be able to gather vehicle information very easy, however I am finding that it is difficult to find a “real life” guide to negotiation and purchase of such a large ticket item.  I believe this is because there are so many different variables involved when making a purchase of $10,000 or more.  It is my goal to bring transparency and clarification to The Car Buying Process, from the perspective of the owner of car dealership and someone who has been purchasing her own vehicles since the age 18. I believe my experiences as both an owner and consumer help me to see both sides of the equation.

First of all, you have so many options when it comes to a vehicle purchase and your background and history of purchases will without a doubt influence your purchases going forward.  I was taught that negotiation can be a fun process. However, I know that a majority of our population doesn't feel that way and in some cases see confrontation as a negative form of communication. So, for those who are not comfortable with negotiation, my recommendations are: Do your homework and find the vehicle that will fit your needs and give you the freedom you need.

Freedom can either be a simple means of transportation, or it can be a certain style that you like and desire. Freedom can be what is needed to tow your boat or trailer, or it can be what you need for your work. Once you identify your true need for a vehicle, researching potential vehicles will become easier. As you start to do homework and discover a certain type of vehicle you're interested in, don't limit yourself to just that one choice. I say this because the information gathering stage can be much different compared to the purchase stage.  Be flexible with your choices.  So really take the time to determine what needs does this new vehicle need to fulfill. From there you can decide if you are open to both new vehicles and pre-owned vehicles.

The Car Buying Process - Information Gathering
Research vehicles online at http://www.graffbaycity.com/

Even though the web has quite a bit of information, you will find that once you have a relationship with a salesperson you will learn even more. The second part to this series will focus more on the purchase process of The Car Buying Process, but for starters if you are open to both new and used vehicles let your salesperson know that.  If you have time to continue the information gathering process and are not in an emergency type of situation, plan to visit and communicate with your salesperson for 1 to 7 days once you give them your criteria. As I mentioned in one of my past blog posts, be completely honest with your salesperson about your needs and your desires. I see people hold back on their desired vehicle because they are not sure if they can fit that into their budget. But, there are times that if we are aware of this we can come up with a method to help it fit within their budget. By holding back you may end up with a vehicle that doesn't completely satisfy all of your needs and desires. Yes, there are times that budget will dictate the purchase, but that is perfectly okay if the purchase is more need based rather than desired based.

In summary, it is critical to identify your underlying need for purchasing a vehicle. Once that need is identified, you can begin the Information Gathering Process whether it be on the web or in store. There is an unbelievable amount of information available to car buyers online, but that's not to say that the Information Gathering Process doesn't continue inside the dealership. Stay tuned for the second part of this series that will bridge the Information Gathering Process into the Purchasing Process when Buying a Car. Until then, if you have any questions, feel free to stop by or give us a call! Graff Bay City is located at 3636 Wilder Road, Bay City, MI 48706. Bay City Police Get New Chevrolet Caprices

Bay City Police get New Chevrolet Caprices
Photo from The Bay City Times.

BAY CITY, Mich.- There's a few new cops in town, well cop cars. Recently, the Bay City Police Force received four new Chevrolet Caprice police vehicles to replace some of the aging Impalas. The Chevrolet Caprice is not available to the public so you may not recognize it at first, but be on the look out. You may have already noticed the new patrol cars out on the road, since some officers have been patrolling in the new Chevrolet Caprices for the last few months.

Manufactured in Australia, the Chevrolet Caprice was created specifically with law enforcement in mind. Priced at $26,000 the Chevrolet Caprice offers some police-specific perks like a high-input alternator, auxiliary cooling for both the engine and transmission, 18-inch steel wheels, beefier brake pads, police-calibrated stability control, a large touchscreen interface for primary vehicle controls integrated into the side console, a longer wheelbase, and two battery mounts.

Some of the Bay City Officers have also noticed the larger trunks, which better store traffic cones, extra armor, defibrillator, first aid kit, and finger print kit. Designed specifically to accomodate utility belts, the officers have also enjoyed the roomier front seat in the Chevrolet Caprice. Not to mention the rear-wheel drive, 6-Liter, V8 engine which provides the police force with 355 horsepower balanced by great traction control.

The task force does not yet know if they will add more Chevrolet Caprice Police Vehicles to the line up, but you can come on in to your Bay City Area Chevrolet Dealer to get your own intimidating Chevy! General Motors 200 Mile Electric Car Confirmed

General Motors 200 Mile Electric Car Confrimed
BAY CITY, Mich.- Recently General Motors' CEO, Dan Akerson, hinted at developments in the automakers battery technology and the push to develop different ranges. While at an energy conference this week, the CEO confirmed General Motors is in fact working on an electric car with a 200 mile range!

While GM's CEO didn't offer and details regarding the vehicles or batteries in question, the suggested breakthroughs have been on a development project to produce two different vehicles, one with a 100 mile range and the other with a 200 mile range. These efforts are combined with General Motors' goal to have a total of 500,000 electrified vehicles on the road by 2017.

While we don't know much about the Confirmed GM 200 Mile Electric Car, back in 2011 we found out that General Motors' venture capital arm had invested $17 million in Envia Systems, which is developing a lithium-ion battery that would offer 400 watt-hours per kilogram, much higher than the 140 watt-hours per kilogram offered by today's highest-volume electric car.

For more info on Chevrolet's latest electric car technology, check out the 2013 Chevy Volt Brochure. Or if you're interested in one of Chevy's most fuel efficient vehicles, take a look at the 2013 Chevy Spark Brochure. Selling Your Car vs. Trading It In

Selling Your Car vs. Trading It In
BAY CITY, Mich.- Have you recently taken on the task of selling your vehicle on your own? Have you been wondering if you'll make less money by trading in your vehicle? If you're looking for an honest explanation that will help you understand which option is best for you, check out our truthful series: What To Expect When Selling Your Vehicle Yourself and What To Expect Before Trading In Your Vehicle.

In our opinion, selling your vehicle outright isn't for everyone. If you enjoy meeting new people, have no problems negotiating or working with the public, and have your vehicle priced at less than $8,000, then it may be right for you. But if you're not interested in the hard work, liability, and details that go into selling your vehicle on your own, then you may be better off trading in your vehicle. There are many different aspects to consider in both situations and you should definitely take the time to consider which is best for you.

See what some of Hank Graff Chevrolet's clients had to say about the process of Selling Your Car vs. Trading It In:

"In regards to my aspect of purchasing and trading in to obtain a new vehicle I have to say the trade in process was much nicer than dealing with selling it outright through different sources.  First, working hand and hand with the dealer (Graff of Bay City) I was able to find and customize the vehicle to my particular liking. I wasn't forced to settle for part of what I was looking for, I was able to get 100% of what I wanted making it a much easier process than looking through multiple sources.  I have sold vehicles on my own before in front of my house and that can be a long and tedious process, not to mention dealing with all the paper work of transferring and State papers. While this was the first time I have ever traded a vehicle in, I have to admit it was the most relaxing process ever and took little effort on my behalf. The dealership took all the hassle out of the transaction.  I received an excellent quote for my trade and didn't have to do anything outside of supplying my title and a signature.  The nice feature of trading in my truck was being able to use it directly to take expense right off the top of the new purchase. I looked at it in the aspect of an equation ( my time saved + no hassle selling the vehicle on the road + being able to apply the trade immediately to my purchase = any difference in price I may have gotten from trying to sell it any other way if any difference at all) Basically time saved and hassle averted makes trading a very viable and sensible decision.  It makes it much nicer when a dealer works as hard for you as Graff did for me and I will always remember that experience and work with Graff in the future.  Even though this was my first new vehicle purchase I am sure down the line I will purchase another vehicle and will take advantage of trading in."
     -Aaron, from Mid-Michigan
"I tried for over a year to sell my Yukon.  I thought initially that this would be no problem since I always take good care of my vehicles.  I reached out to Lisa at Graff Chevrolet because I have purchased from her before and she gave me a fair trade in value, however I thought for what the difference was I would still try to sell it outright.  I had several inquiries plus an offer to trade for jet ski's(not sure how that would have worked out), but nothing ever came together.  In looking back I wish I would have sold the vehicle to Graff Chevrolet sooner.  It all turned out good in the end and because I am limited on my time have learned that in my situation it is best to trade in compared to selling outright."
-Ben, from the West Side of Michigan

"Marc and Lisa were extremely accommodating during my entire experience in purchasing my new vehicle. Both of them provided excellent communication during the entire process.  The customer service that I was shown was above and beyond anything that I was ever expecting!  Marc came by my work with an Equinox to test drive, while he drove my car back to the dealership to get a quote on the trade-in value.  I am so extremely happy with the way my transaction took place, and will definitely send everyone I know to have the same great experience at Graff Chevrolet in Bay City!"
-Jordan, from the Great Lakes Bay Region Michigan
